According to the Sports Xchange, the San Francisco 49ers have signed former Steelers K Jeff Reed.

K Joe Nedney continues to recover from a knee injury and replacement Shane Andrus was waived this week.

The thought earlier this week was that the 37-year old Nedney would be ready to return from a two-game absence, but that might not be the case.

Nedney missed practice for the second straight day on Thursday.
