Agent: Wimbley expected to return to Raiders for 2011
As first noted by FOXSports.com, the Oakland Raiders have the option of buying back the final year of starting SLB Kamerion Wimbley’s contract, which voided after the 2010 season based on minimum playing time requirements.
The Raiders have until the start of the new league year to exercise the buyback option.
“Neither of us has heard from the Raiders yet on this matter, but I suspect we will soon,” Wimbley’s agent, Joe Linta, told FOXSports.com early Thursday afternoon. “We expect to hear from the team by certified letter.”
While Linta didn’t say, the buyback salary figure is expected to be around $3.5 million. The voided year carried a base salary of $635,000.
