The Kansas City Chiefs have signed free-agent DL Atiyyah Ellison. He takes the place of DE Alex Magee on the 53-man roster, who was traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Tuesday.
Ellison (6-3, 315) played in 15 games (six starts) with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2009 after originally joining the Jaguars in 2008. He has recorded 28 tackles (16 solo), two tackles for loss, a sack and one pass defensed.
He spent time on the San Francisco 49ers practice squad in 2008 and was on the 49ers 53-man roster in 2007. Ellison also served on the 53-man roster and the practice squad with the Baltimore Ravens in 2006. He also enjoyed stints on the 53-man roster and the practice squad with the Carolina Panthers in 2005. He originally entered the NFL as a third-round pick (89th overall) of Carolina in 2005.
