Eagles' Henery won't punt this season
During an interview with 97.5 The Fanatic in Philadelphia, Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid said fourth-round pick K/P Alex Henery won’t punt for the team this season.
“I don’t think so,” Reid said when asked whether Henery would kick and punt for the team this season.
The Eagles selected Henery as the long-term replacement for veteran K David Akers.
Henery’s selection came to a surprise to some, but Akers’ contract expired after the 2010 season. The team placed their transition tag on him, but it’s possible that transition and franchise tags are not part of free agency once the rules are determined.
P Sav Rocca was tendered as a restricted free agent, but the Eagles would receive no compensation in return should another team give him an offersheet and they declined to match.
