Panthers' Beason added to NFC Pro Bowl roster
Carolina Panthers starting MLB Jon Beason has replaced WLB Lance Briggs of the Chicago Bears for Sunday's Pro Bowl in Hawaii.
Briggs is unable to participate in the game because of injury. It will be the third consecutive Pro Bowl appearance for Beason and his first as an outside linebacker. In 2010, Beason started eight games at outside linebacker and eight at middle linebacker after LB Dan Connor was injured.
Beason has started every game for Carolina since being drafted in the first round in 2007 and his consecutive-games-starting streak of 64 is fourth longest in team history. He has led the Panthers in tackles for four straight seasons, including a team-high 162 last year.
He joins starting C Ryan Kalil and starting OT Jordan Gross on the NFC Pro Bowl team, marking the first time the Panthers have had two offensive linemen in the Pro Bowl.
