Pregame notes for Week 15
Dallas Cowboys: The Cowboys will be without starting QB Tony Romo (left shoulder) for today’s game against the visiting Washington Redskins. He will be an inactive for the eighth straight game. Journeyman QB Jon Kitna will start again for him.
The team will also not have RB Marion Barber (calf-questionable) and WR Roy Williams (groin-questionable) available for the game. Barber will miss his third straight game.
WR Sam Hurd will start for Williams.
The Redskins made the expected change at quarterback.
No. 2 QB Rex Grossman will start over veteran Donovan McNabb.
McNabb, who has struggled with his accuracy and throwing mechanics, is listed as the No. 2 quarterback.
The Redskins will be without starting DE Kedric Golston (groin, elbow).
RB Ryan Torain (hamstring-questionable) will start. The Redskins will only dress two running backs for the game.
Jacksonville Jaguars: The Jaguars will not have two key defensive starters for today’s game against the host Indianapolis Colts.
OLB Justin Durant (groin) and SS Courtney Greene (shoulder) are among two of Jacksonville’s eight inactives for the game.
Veteran S Sean Considine will start for the second straight game in place of the injured Greene.
The team will have QB David Garrard (hamstring-questionable) and RB Maurice Jones-Drew (knee-questionable) in the lineup.
The Colts will be without starting RB Joseph Addai (neck-questionable) for the eighth straight game. Second-year RB Donald Brown is slated to start again for Addai, but look for rookie RB Javarris James to continue to handle a short-yardage role.
The team will also be without backup RB Mike Hart (ankle-questionable) and starting WLB Clint Session (elbow-questionable), who will miss his seventh straight game.
Second-year WR Austin Collie (concussion-questionable) returns from a two-game absence.
New Orleans Saints: The Saints will not have their leading rusher for today’s game against the host Baltimore Ravens.
Rookie RB Chris Ivory (hamstring-questionable) is one of the eight listed inactives for the Saints. Look for RB Pierre Thomas to get at least half the carries in the game.
KR Courtney Roby (head) and backup TE David Thomas (knee) also will not play.
The Ravens will not have starting TE Todd Heap (thigh) for the second straight game. Rookie TEs Ed Dickson and Dennis Pitta will fill in for Heap. The team will continue to use a sixth offensive lineman on running downs and select passing situations to make up for the absence of Heap as a blocker.
Veteran WR Donte’ Stallworth is a surprise inactive considering he’s the team’s lone vertical threat.
Philadelphia Eagles: The Eagles will be without starting MLB Stewart Bradley (elbow) and starting ORT Winston Justice (knee-questionable) for today’s pivotal NFC East matchup against the host New York Giants, but the team will have WR DeSean Jackson (foot-questionable) and CB Asante Samuel (knee-questionable).
Samuel returns from a three-game absence due to an MCL sprain.
Rookie LB Jamar Chaney will make his first NFL start in place of the injured Bradley. Look for the Giants to do everything they can to run at the seventh-round pick.
The Giants will get back starting C Shaun O’Hara (foot-questionable) from a six-game absence.
Starting WLB Michael Boley (shoulder-questionable) is active for the game.
