With the likelihood that the Oakland Raiders will not be able to re-sign starting CB Nnamdi Asomugha, the team will be in the market to add a cornerback.

A source confirmed the team is scheduled to work out CB Curtis Brown (Texas) on Thursday.

The team has also worked out CB Curtis Marsh (Utah St.) and had CBs DeMarcus Van Dyke (Miami-Fla.) and Jimmy Smith (Colorado) in for visits.

The Raiders re-signed CB Stanford Routt before the transaction deadline on March 4, but have no replacement for Asomugha on the other side.

Brown, who is projected to go off the board within the first two rounds, has also worked out for the Philadelphia Eagles, New England Patriots, Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns. He also visited the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Brown (5’11” ½, 185), who performed well during Senior Bowl week practices, has good size and better than average speed for the position. What scouts like is Brown is willing to be physical—a trait which is rare for a young cornerback to possess. The Raiders are one of the few teams that plays strictly man-to-man coverage in the secondary.
