Redskins make several moves
The Washington Redskins are one of the most banged up teams in the NFL right now. And because of that, they made three roster moves on Monday.
Backup RB Chad Simpson, who suffered a broken foot during pregame warm-ups for Sunday’s game against the host Tennessee Titans, and rookie S Anderson Russell, who suffered a torn ACL, were placed on injured reserve.
The team signed RB James Davis off the practice squad. He and rookie Keiland Williams are the only two backs on the 53-man roster who are healthy.
Starter Clinton Portis, who reinjured his groin against Tennessee, is not expected to play against the visiting Minnesota Vikings this week. Ryan Torain, aggravated his groin injury in pregame warm-ups two weeks ago prior to playing the visiting Philadelphia Eagles, is also not expected to play against Minnesota.
Starting C Casey Rabach (knee), who was injured against Tennessee, is not expected to play against Minnesota.
Starting OLB Lorenzo Alexander (hamstring), who also was injured against Tennessee, is considered to be a long shot to play this week.
Starting SS LaRon Landry (Achilles) is expected to miss his second straight game.
