Seahawks sign two LBs, work out several players
The Seattle Seahawks signed LBs Michael Johnson and Vuna Tuihalamaka to the practice squad this week. To create a roster spot, the Seahawks placed DE Derek Walker on the practice squad injured list.
The Seahawks signed Johnson off the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad. Johnson is a rookie free agent out of North Alabama where he played in 49 games (44 starts), registering 365 tackles (172 solo).
Tuiahalamaka is a rookie free agent from the University of Arizona. He was waived by the Indianapolis Colts on Sept. 4.
A source confirmed Johnson and Tuihalakama, along with QB Jevan Snead, TE Caz Piurowski, DT Rashaad Duncan and WR Reggie Brown, worked out for the Seahawks earlier this week.
Snead, out of the University of Mississippi, is an intriguing player. He was highly thought of in scouting circles after the 2008 season, but Snead's performance regressed a bit, and he fell out of this year's NFL Draft. He spent time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the preseason.
The Seahawks have three quarterbacks on their 53-man roster, but only one of them, Charlie Whitehurst, is signed through next season.
Duncan wound up signing with the Washington Redskins practice squad.
In other roster moves this week, the Seahawks waived G Ben Hamilton (concussion) off injured reserve. He was placed on IR on Nov. 2.
