Source: Browns to interview Jauron for def. coordinator job
The Cleveland Browns have received permission to interview Philadelphia Eagles senior assistant/defensive backs coach Dick Jauron for their defensive coordinator job, a source confirmed. The Browns have not requested to interview any other Eagles assistants as of late Friday morning.
Rob Ryan is still under contract as the Browns defensive coordinator, but it was clear during new head coach Pat Shurmur’s news conference Friday that Ryan’s job was tenuous at best. Ryan was expected to interview for the vacant Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator job on Friday, the Dallas Morning News reported.
The Browns have been running a 3-4 defensive scheme for several seasons, but Jauron has mostly coached the 4-3.
In other team news, a source confirmed the Browns signed WR Rod Windsor to a future contract. Windsor spent a few weeks on the practice squads of the Browns and Buffalo Bills this season.
