Source: Ravens sign former highly touted wide receiver
The Baltimore Ravens have signed free-agent WR James Hardy to a future contract, a source confirmed. Hardy took a physical on Tuesday, but did not work out for the team.
Hardy, who was originally selected in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills, worked out for the Cincinnati Bengals, Indianapolis Colts and Seattle Seahawks during the regular season.
Hardy was highly touted by most draft services two years ago, but he only appeared in 16 games and caught just 10 passes during his two seasons of play with the Bills.
Personnel evaluators say Hardy (6-5, 220) has excellent size, but lacks the ideal quickness teams are looking for.
Hardy, who did not latch on with another team after Buffalo waived him on the final roster cutdown on Sept. 4, is not eligible to participate in the playoffs.
