Kansas City Chiefs QB Matt Cassel has been named to the AFC roster for the 2011 Pro Bowl. Cassel will make his first Pro Bowl appearance, joining Kansas City teammates WR Dwayne Bowe, RB Jamaal Charles and G Brian Waters on the AFC squad. The Pro Bowl will be played at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii on Sunday, January 30th on FOX. Cassel replaces New England QB Tom Brady (foot surgery).

Cassel (6-4, 230) started 15 games in 2010, completing 262 of 450 passes for 3,116 yards with a career-high 27 TDs and seven INTs, good for a personal-best 93.0 rating. His 27 TD passes tied for the fourth-highest single-season total in team history. He finished second in the NFL with a franchise-record +20 TD/INT differential, trailing only Brady (+32). During the 2010 season, he enjoyed a career-long stretch of 162 consecutive pass attempts without an INT, the third-longest streak in Chiefs history, while his 1.56 INT percentage ranked fourth in the NFL. The University of Southern California product earned AFC Offensive Player of the Month accolades in November after connecting on 90 of 144 passes (62.5%) for 1,111 yards with 12 TDs and only one INT for a 111.2 rating.

The Northridge, California native has seen action in 60 games (45 starts) with New England (2005-08) and Kansas City (2009-10), connecting on 882 of 1,498 passes for 9,986 yards with 66 TDs and 36 INTs, good for an 83.6 rating. He has six career 300-yard passing games and has posted a 100.0+ rating (min. 20 attempts) in 12 contests with six of those 100.0-rating games coming in 2010. Cassel was acquired by the Chiefs in a trade with New England in 2009. The Patriots coaches will be handling the AFC Pro Bowl roster.
