Cowboys cut third-rounder
The Dallas Cowboys surprisingly waived 2009 third-round pick ILB Jason Williams on Tuesday.
Williams, who would up being the highest selection in last year’s NFL Draft for Dallas, only appeared in 10 games in his one-plus seasons with the teams, mostly playing on special teams.
Williams, out of Western Illinois University, is known in scouting circles as a raw but talented prospect that needs a while to develop his skills at the NFL level.
Should Williams be claimed off waivers, that team would owe him the balance of his $395,000 base salary for this season which comes to roughly $209,000.
