Dolphins sign center; work out two other players
The Miami Dolphins have signed C Eric Ghiaciuc. He replaces backup G/C Cory Procter, who was placed on injured reserve on Nov. 19. Procter started last week’s game for C Joe Berger (knee) against the visiting Chicago Bears.
Ghiaciuc is a veteran of five NFL seasons, spending four seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals (2005-08) and the end of the 2009 season with San Diego. Ghiaciuc started 42 of 48 games that he played during his tenure with the Bengals. He was originally selected by Bengals in the fourth round (119th overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft.
In 2009, Ghiaciuc went to training camp with the Kansas City Chiefs but was waived prior to the start of the season. He signed with the San Diego Chargers on Dec. 22 and was inactive for the final two games and the Chargers postseason game. He later spent time in training camp with both the Cleveland Browns and New England Patriots.
A source confirmed Ghiaciuc, C Nick Leckey and G Evan Dietrich-Smith worked out for the team on Monday.
