Report: Raiders' Seymour reaches new deal with team
According to SI.com, Oakland Raiders starting DL Richard Seymour has agreed to terms on a two-year deal worth a potential $30 million that includes $22.5 million in guarantees.
The report states Seymour is expected to receive $15 million each of the next two years, including a guaranteed $7.5 million bonus in 2012.
Seymour was acquired in September of 2009 from the New England Patriots in exchange for a 2011 first-round pick. He earned $12.75 million in 2010 based on his one-year guaranteed base salary under the franchise designation.
With Seymour re-signing with the team, the Raiders could use their franchise tag on TE Zach Miller.
A source told FOXSports.com that the Raiders will not use their franchise tag on starting SLB Kamerion Wimbley, whose rookie contract will void. The Raiders have a contract buyback option at around $3.5 million for 2011, the final year of the deal, but the team would like to sign him to a new deal once the CBA gets done. The buyback option expires at the start of the new league year, currently Mar. 4.
