Canelo and Jaime Munguía Ready to Battle for Super Middleweight Supremacy

Ahead of their Cinco de Mayo weekend showdown for the IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO super middleweight titles, Canelo Álvarez (60-2-2, 39 KOs) and  Jaime Munguía (43-0, 34 KOs) have made their grand arrival for their May 4 bout at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas as the headline for the PBC Pay-Per-View event on Prime Video, DAZN PPV and PPV.com. Canelo and Munguía Make Their Grand Arrival

Canelo Álvarez vs. Jaime Munguía

Pound-for-pound great Canelo Álvarez and the talented all-action former world champion Jaime Munguía have kicked off fight week with their grand arrival in Las Vegas ahead of their all-Mexican Cinco de Mayo weekend clash. Canelo will defend his undisputed super middleweight world title against the undefeated Munguía in the historic all-Mexican bout.

“This is a very significant and historic fight with two Mexicans fighting for all four belts for the first time,” said Canelo. “I’m looking to leave my mark and put my country up high.”

“This is going to be an interesting fight and we’re going to come after him,” said Munguía. “We’re going to look for him in the ring, and in the end, it’s going to be an amazing fight for the fans.”

Rest of the Card

The grand arrivals event also saw WBC interim Welterweight Champion Mario “El Azteca” Barrios and his opponent Fabián “TNT” Maidana arrive for the co-main event. Brandon Figueroa and his opponent, former world champion Jessie Magdaleno also arrived ahead of their clash for the Interim WBC Featherweight title, currently held by Figueroa.

Undefeated  Lithuanian fighter Eimantas Stanionis will return to the ring as he takes on fellow unbeaten fighter  Gabriel Maestre in a bout that will kick off the pay-per-view part of the card.
