Indiana basketball wing Miller Kopp was one of the bigger personalities on the Indiana roster his two seasons in Bloomington. On Friday, Kopp sat down for a live stream video in partnership with NIL collective group, Hoosiers Connect.

He spoke with many current Indiana University athletes, former IU basketball player and current Hoosiers Connect Vice President Collin Hartman and others.

Among the topics discussed were NIL, the transfer portal and Kopp’s time in Bloomington with the Indiana basketball program.

Below are some key quotes from Miller Kopp:

Kopp on NIL: “NIL has amplified the portal to another stratosphere. It’s taken it to a different level, and it’s also opened other doors that were previously closed to some people … now there’s a lot more ability for players and guys entering the portal to have some freedom of their careers and their lives.”

Kopp on the transfer portal: “I have players who are looking at Indiana DM’ing me to talk and call me on the phone …  I’ve talked to many players on the phone about Indiana and I’m like, ‘Look, number one, I’m not gonna lie to you. Number two, there’s not much to say that’s bad at all (about Indiana).’ The last thing I want is for a guy to go to a school because of me, and then get there and figure out something that I didn’t tell them.”

Kopp on Mike Woodson: “That’s what I think Woody is so good at, (he’s) no BS. He doesn’t play any games. He’s somebody who you get on the phone with … he’s a guy who’s not going to beat around the bush, he’s not gonna lie to you.”

Kopp on his transfer to IU: “When I got in the portal I was like first off, I’m getting out of the Big Ten … I got on a call with Woody … From that conversation, I was like, ‘Okay, this guy’s legit'”.
