Following the departure of head coach Jimbo Fisher, Texas A&M's recruiting efforts faced turbulence with several decommitments.

However, under the guidance of new head coach Mike Elko, the program managed to stabilize, retaining crucial commitments such as 5-star athlete Terry Bussey, who ultimately signed with the Aggies despite late interest from LSU.

Bussey, known for his exceptional athleticism and lockdown coverage skills, is poised to make an immediate impact in the Aggies' secondary, solidifying their defensive unit for the future.

Bussey's athletic prowess was on full display during his junior year, where he showcased his remarkable speed by rushing for an impressive 2,596 yards and tallying 46 touchdowns. Not limited to offense, Bussey also made significant contributions on defense, recording 115 tackles and five interceptions.

Additionally, Elko secured the signing of highly regarded 4-star receiver Ashton Bethel-Roman on National Signing Day. In terms of rankings, Bethel-Roman is positioned as the 210th player nationally, the 35th wide receiver, and also the 35th player within Texas.

Moreover, Elko's efforts extended beyond retention, as he successfully maintained the commitment of 4-star offensive tackle Blake Ivy and 4-star offensive lineman Isendre Ahfua, further solidifying the team's offensive line prospects.

In a significant boost to the class, Elko also orchestrated key additions in December, including highly sought-after prospects like edge-rusher Solomon Williams, dynamic receiver Izaiah Williams, and versatile defensive lineman Dealyn Evans.

These signings not only replenish the talent pool but also inject versatility and playmaking ability into the Aggies' roster.

Given Elko's track record of success, notably achieving a commendable 9-4 record in his inaugural season at Duke in 2022, there's considerable optimism surrounding his tenure at Texas A&M.

With the infusion of talent from this recruiting class, expectations are high for the Aggies to make a significant impact as early as the 2024 season. As Elko continues to implement his vision and coaching philosophy, the future looks promising for Texas A&M football.
