Could RB Frank Gore finally become an Eagle?

Frank Gore Sr. was almost a Philadelphia Eagle. After 10 years with the San Francisco 49ers, Gore became a free agent in 2015 and agreed to join the Eagles. He got cold feet when the team traded Nick Foles, so he joined the Colts instead.

Could his son be the Gore who becomes an Eagle?

In 2015, Frank Gore Jr. was 13 years old. These days he’s a 5-foot-8, 195-pound record-setting running back for the Golden Eagles of Southern Mississippi.

In the LendingTree Bowl against Rice on Saturday, Gore Jr. set a school and NCAA bowl record with 329 rushing yards. He ran for two touchdowns and threw for another.

Per profootballnetwork.com, Gore Jr. is a powerful runner with change-of-direction ability that allows him to rip off big plays. He’s known for stiff-arming opponents during games and family members afterward.

Gore Jr. projects as a possible late-round selection in the 2023 NFL Draft. A lot will depend on his combine numbers. His bowl performance certainly didn’t hurt.

Eagles RBs Miles Sanders and Boston Scott will be free agents next year. Philadelphia used a fifth-round pick on Kenneth Gainwell in 2021, but his numbers have been ordinary.

Gore Jr.’s college career wasn’t extraordinary, but he has a pedigree and was productive on a bad team.

If he’s available in the late rounds, the Eagles could give him serious consideration and finally get a Gore in midnight green.
