Deion Sanders not interested in talking about replacing Jimbo Fisher at Texas A&M

It made sense, at least initially.

The Texas A&M Aggies fired Jimbo Fisher just six and a half years into his 10-year, $75M contract. Fisher wasn't great at A&M by any means, but he was a strong recruiter and had built some hype around the program.

If the Aggies wanted to make a splash hire and keep this thing rolling, poaching Deion Sanders from Colorado would do the job.

Again, the idea made sense. That's why it was mentioned Monday.

The problem for Texas A&M is the school may not have the money to pay for Fisher's massive buyout plus the money it would take to get Sanders out of Boulder.

Oh, and then there's the fact that Sanders doesn't seem interested.

“I want to win. I want to win a game. You think I really do sit down and think about that kind of stuff? What strikes me about that, about myself that you guys really think I sit down and say ‘Ah, yeah Stephen A.?’ Come on, I’m good,” Sanders said in a news conference (h/t On3). “We’ve got to win. Let’s focus on this week. We play Friday, so we lose a day of practice. So we’ve got to focus.”

This could, of course, be a bit of coach speak from Sanders, because if the money is right it's hard not to see him making a move anywhere. With that said, he is right that in there here and now, he has bigger problems to deal with.

After starting 3-0 and capturing the attention of the college football world, Sanders' Colorado team has lost six of its last seven games and is still not yet bowl-eligible at 4-6.

He may be telling the truth. He's just trying to win right now.
