Florida State's Hamsah Nasirildeen to miss season opener

Florida State Seminoles coach Mike Norvell confirmed on Monday that safety Hamsah Nasirildeen will miss Saturday's season opener versus Georgia Tech as he continues to work his way back from the torn ACL he suffered last November.

Per Andrea Adelson of ESPN, Norvell explained that the senior could make his way back into the lineup in the "very near future."

Nasirildeen led Flordia State in tackles with 101 in 2019. and he also tallied two interceptions, three forced fumbles, and a sack. According to the program's official website, he became the first FSU player to accumulate over 100 tackles in a season since 2014 and the first Seminole since 1990 to notch multiple 17-tackle games across a campaign.

Ryan Wilson and Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports both listed Nasirildeen as a first-round pick in updated 2021 NFL mock drafts. Charlie Campbell of Walter Football has named Nasirildeen as the third-best safety of the upcoming draft class.

"It was the second straight season in which Nasirildeen contributed well in the tackling department for the Seminoles," Campbell wrote. "For the NFL, he might fit best as a strong safety, provided he can fill out.'
