Former NFL HC Ken Whisenhunt has joined forces with Nick Saban at Alabama

Nick Saban is revamping his coaching staff at Alabama this offseason and he just added a more than notable name to his in-office directory.

Ken Whisenhunt, who was an NFL head coach for eight seasons, from 2007 to 2015, has joined Alabama's staff as a special assistant to the head coach. This, according to  ESPN, which literally got the information from Alabama football's staff directory. The lede of this article was no joke.

Whisenhunt, 60, was an offensive analyst for Penn State over the past two seasons. His most recent post as a coach was with the San Diego/Los Angeles Chargers as defensive coordinator from 2016 to 2019.

He was head coach of the Tennessee Titans in 2014 and 2015 but was fired in '15 after a 1-6 start. Whisenhunt was just 3-20 in those two seasons.

Whisenhunt was also head coach of the Arizona Cardinals from 2007 to 2012, where he had a bit more success. He led Arizona to Super Bowl XLIII in 2008, where the Cardinals ultimately lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers, 27-23. It was arguably one of the greatest Super Bowls of all time.

Whisenhunt's son-in-law, Zach Mettenberger (the former LSU quarterback), is also on Alabama's staff as an analyst.
