Quarterback Walker Howard was a big-time recruit for the LSU Tigers when he committed as part of Brian Kelly's 2022 recruiting class. Howard, a 6-foot-1, 195-pound rising sophomore quarterback, is no longer part of Kelly and LSU's future, though, and instead, he's become a big part of the program for Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss.
Howard entered the transfer portal last week after sitting most of his freshman season at LSU behind two upperclassmen quarterbacks. Though there was still room for him to shine in LSU's quarterback room, he was apparently looking for a new direction and he found that direction in Kiffin and the Rebels.
Staying within the SEC, Howard announced his new football home on Twitter.

There's a ton of potential for Howard at Ole Miss, at least as far as the depth chart is concerned. The Rebels don't have a quarterback commitment in either their 2022 or 2023 class and backup Luke Altmeyer recently transferred to Illinois.
Jaxson Dart will be returning for his junior season after throwing for 2,974 yards and 20 touchdowns (11 intereptioncs) as a sophomore, but there's reason to believe that Howard can push Dart for playing time.
According to 247Sports, Walker was the No. 5 quarterback in the 2022 class. ESPN ranked him the No. 3 dual-threat quarterback in the class.
