The word is that Johnson is feeling good and will try to play against Iowa this weekend. Obviously, it will depend on how the leg feels in practice this week but him saying that he is feeling good is a step in the right direction. Michigan’s defense is full of studs. They work so well as a unit together that when one piece is out, it makes a difference. The flip side is that if Johnson cannot go, there are plenty of other playmakers that can step up in his absence.
The Wolverines will likely be cautious with Johnson’s injury as they have their sights set on the College Football Playoff. Iowa doesn’t exactly pose a huge offensive threat and the Wolverines could likely get away with sitting Johnson. It is more important to have him on the field for the likes of Georgia, Washington, Florida State, or Oregon. Still, the Wolverines cannot look past Iowa who would love nothing more than to ruin Michigan’s season.
Will Johnson and his injury be a situation to monitor for the Michigan Wolverines. The good news is that once the Big Ten Championship game is done, they will have plenty of time to rest and get healthy.
