Texas A&M OL Chase Bisontis Withdraws Name From Portal

Bisontis was one of two Aggies to be named to the Freshman All-American team. His loss was a big blow to new head coach Mike Elko as he could have anchored the line for the next couple of years. Who knows what changed but Bisontis announced that he will be back in College Station in 2024. This is a massive boost to the Aggies who are desperate for any kind of talent to stay on the roster. It is a little surprising seeing as Bisontis talked about having offers from over 20 schools as he entered the portal.

A Good Reminder About The Portal

This is a good reminder for fans about the transfer portal. Just because someone enters the portal doesn’t mean they are automatically leaving. Bisontis probably isn’t the last player to come back to their previous program. Sometimes the offers are there for players and sometimes they are not. Players may need to simply test the waters to see before deciding to return. Elko could have also come in with a pitch that he couldn’t refuse. We may never know but the Aggies are happy to have him back.

Texas A&M begins its small rebuild in 2024. With the amount of NIL money the university has, it would not surprise me if the Aggies are in the College Football Playoff conversation soon.
