Mistico will find himself back in mainstream American wrestling after Friday night. The artist formerly known as Sin Cara will be on AEW television as Rampage plays host to a premier CMLL contest between him and Rocky Romero

The bout is billed as the bid for "Mexico's Pound-For-Pound-Crown" as Mistico is the World Historic Middleweight Champion while Romero is the World Historic Welterweight Champion. The buzz of Mistico making his AEW debut likely helped provide a boost in tickets sales for the AEW tapings this week.

Dave Meltzer previously reported that after the word got out that Mistico would be competing, over 2,000 more tickets were sold, but that was also likely in part to the point price being dropped as well.

Mistico has been gone from WWE since 2019, but has re-established himself as a top star in CMLL. The incorporation of him into AEW should help further solidify a potential relationship between the two promotions.

Funny enough, CMLL isn't just stopping at AEW. It's been recently revealed that they have also formed a partnership with Major League Wrestling. Just this past weekend, Rocky Romero happened to become the new World Middleweight Champion at MLW Slaughterhouse in Philadelphia. He, along with new World Featherweight Champion, Janai Kai have joined forces with Salina de la Renta.

Both AEW and MLW have previously had partnerships with CMLL's rival promotion, AAA Lucha Libre and it's been well-documented that those two don't exactly send each other Christmas cards. If the wrestling companies happen to ever find themselves under the same banner, their respective stars will not compete in the ring with one another.
