Head coach Andrew Brunette announced that Samuel Fagemo will make his Nashville Predators debut in tonight's game against the San Jose Sharks

The Predators claimed Fagemo off waivers on October 2, and Andrew Brunette and the coaching staff have spent a lot of time in practices learning more about the Swedish winger's game. With Cody Glass out seven to ten days with a lower body injury, Fagemo will get his first start in Predators gold tonight.

Fagemo was a 2019 second round draft pick for the L.A. Kings. He played 13 NHL games for the Kings over two seasons, scoring two goals and three points. He is a good puck handler but is best known for his shooting. In his 56 games in 2022-23 with the AHL's Ontario Reign, Fagemo scored 23 goals and 32 points.

Even though he has been a healthy scratch for the Predators in the first five games, Fagemo used the time to continue learning more about the team's new system.

"I think the practice time helped me a lot and seeing some games from the side as well." Fagemo said of his preparation for tonight. "I've been talking a lot with the players and coaches, and they really helped me to get feedback as well. I feel ready."

Tonight Fagemo wants to get to his game early, focus on the system that he's been learning since joining the Preds late in the preseason, and execute the little details of his play. Andrew Brunette said Fagemo may end up seeing some power play time tonight as well.

Fagemo is excited about this opportunity and is also excited that he will have some family in town to see his Nashville debut. His mom and brother will be at Bridgestone Arena tonight to see his first game as a Predator.

"I'm super excited. I'm really happy to get this opportunity," Fagemo said after morning skate. "Big day for me and big day for my family as well."

The Predators have generated a lot of offensive chances this season outshooting their opponents in each of their five games, and Fagemo may be a young player who can finish his chances tonight.
