Boston Red Sox Catcher Connor Wong Does Something Only Possible at Fenway Park

Here at Fastball on FanNation, we're a fan of zany and funny things.

This falls into that category:

Boston Red Sox catcher Connor Wong hit a ball on Tuesday night against the Toronto Blue Jays that ended up as a double at Fenway Park. However, it would have been a home run in EVERY other stadium.

Per the automated Twitter account "Would it dong?"

"Connor Wong vs. Yusei Kikuchi #DirtyWater.... REVERSE UNICORN.... double (5)... exit velo: 113.6 mph, launch angle: 20 deg, proj. distance: 384 feet. This double would have been a home run in every park except Fenway Park. That's gotta sting."

At the time of this posting, the Red Sox lead the Blue Jays 2-0 in the top of the fourth inning.

Wong, 26 is hitting .254 this season with one home run and eight RBI. He's added one stolen base and a .713 OPS. He's known as an outstanding throwing catcher but his offense is a bonus for a Red Sox team that entered Tuesday at 16-14 on the season.

He was acquired alongside Alex Verdugo and infielder Jeter Downs in the trade that sent Mookie Betts to Los Angeles in 2020. He made his major league debut in 2021 and is a lifetime .233 hitter with two home runs and 16 RBI.
