Former Elite Toronto Blue Jays' OF Signs Deal with Chicago White Sox

Pillar is an 11-year veteran who spent seven years with the Toronto Blue Jays. He's also played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets, Colorado Rockies, San Francisco Giants and Braves since leaving Toronto.

Lifetime, he's a .257 hitter with 105 home runs and 96 stolen bases. He earned MVP votes back in the 2019 season.

The White Sox finished fourth in the American League Central and had the third-worst record in the American League a season ago, so new general manager Chris Getz has been busy turning over the roster. This offseason, he's done a lot of work on the pitching side, trading away Aaron Bummer and bringing in Erik Fedde, Chris Flexen and Mike Soroka. Furthermore, they've gotten Nicky Lopez and Paul DeJong up the middle and veteran catcher Martin Maldonado behind the plate.

Pillar should have an opportunity to earn chances in the outfield. The team has Luis Robert Jr. and Andrew Benintendi penciled into everyday roles and the third spot could go to Pillar, Oscar Colas, or Gavin Sheets,
