'Does He Have A Splash Of Jon Jones In Him?' - Brendan Schaub Questions Israel Adesanya For Drunk Driving Prior To UFC 293 Loss

In a recent episode of The Schaub Show, Schaub weighed in on Adesanya's recent run-in with police in New Zealand.

"All this does is push the narrative that Izzy didn't take Strickland serious," Schaub said. "I'd like to hear about his honest opinion about this DUI, because all this does is push a narrative that hurts Strickland's performance...when you're champ, there's a different level of pressure, especially Izzy...does he have a splash of Jon Jones in him? It makes him human, everybody makes mistakes, don't beat him up too much."

Adesanya doesn't have an extensive criminal history and this is the first time he's been charged with DUI. He'll return to court on January 10th to face a potential maximum punishment of a three-month jail sentence or a fine of up to $4500.

Before the loss to Strickland, Adesanya was having a bounceback year after defeating Alex Pereira in their UFC 287 rematch. He was originally expected to face Dricus du Plessis at UFC 293 before du Plessis opted not to make the quick turnaround after his last fight.

Adesanya has since apologized for the incident and intends on doing better moving forward. But, the question remains if this is another case of a celebrity falling apart outside of their noted profession.
