Eddie Alvarez Details 'Massive F**k Up' By Mike Perry's Management To Make Him Cut Extra Weight For Their BKFC Showdown
Sergei Belski-USA TODAY Sports

Eddie Alvarez recent shed some light on a frustrating bit of confusion behind the scenes ahead of BKFC 56.

At the event, 'The Underground King' went to war with Mike Perry in a blood-soaked main-event. Alvarez suffered a grim broken orbital bone that ultimately led to him losing via corner stoppage.

For Perry, this was the latest in a line of high-profile, bare knuckle wars that have seen him become the BKFC's most hyped star. Earlier this year, he also upset former UFC Middleweight Champion Luke Rockhold, who gave in after 'Platinum' viciously busted his front teeth.

"Mike's Manager Messed Up" - Eddie Alvarez

During a recent appearance on The MMA Hour, Eddie Alvarez discussed a weigh-in issue that caused some frustration all-round. The former Bellator and UFC Lightweight Champion revealed that the agreed-upon weight limit for the was 176lbs. Despite making weight, Alvarez received some flak from 'Platinum's coaches for being slightly over 175lbs.

"So at weigh-ins, our weight was 176, 175 and a pound," Alvarez explained. "So I weighed in 175.7, which- I'm on weight, 175 and a pound. No problem. Well, I get off the scale and both of our guys send someone to watch the other guy weigh in. Well his coach turns to Mike's manager and says 'Hey, he's not on weight, he's 0.7 over' and I went 'No, we're on weight man, it's 176 is the weight' and they didn't know that."

It turned out that Perry's manager had failed to notify him of the extra pound limit, forcing him to cut down that much further to reach 175lbs exactly. Alvarez went on to call the whole situation "a massive f**k-up."

"Mike's manager messed up, and told Mike that you're not getting a pound," Alvarez revealed. "So they made Mike cut a whole other pound that he didn't need to cut which- Mike's already big, and he's already cutting. And that's a massive, I mean, that's a massive f**k-up."
