Gavin Tucker with violent rear-naked choke of Justin Jaynes
This moves Gavin Tucker to 12-1 in his career and 3-1 in the UFC. It also represents the fourth time Tucker has submitted an opponent via the rear-naked choke. Sergei Belski-USA TODAY Sports

After his loss to Rick Glenn in UFC 215 nearly three years ago, featherweight contender Gavin Tucker has honed his skills in the Octagon in a big way.

Tucker took on Justin Jaynes in a prelim match during UFC Fight Night in Vegas Saturday afternoon. What followed was another brilliant performance from the 34-year-old Canadian. That included a rear-naked choke submission of Jaynes in Round 3.

Talk about violent.

This moves Tucker to 12-1 in his career and 3-1 in the UFC. It also represents the fourth time Tucker has submitted an opponent via the rear-naked choke.

It remains to be seen if this will create a bigger stage for Tucker. But a second consecutive win is nothing to sneeze at. That’s especially true considering his win in UFC 240 in July of 2019.
