Michael Bisping Perplexed By UFC 300 Card Criticism: 'It's A Phenomenal Event!'
Per Haljestam-USA TODAY Sports

UFC Hall of Famer Michael Bisping vehemently disagrees with the groans and displeasure of some fans regarding the UFC 300 main event.

UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Alex Pereira will make his first title defense against Jamahal Hill in the UFC 300 main event on April 13th in Las Vegas. Pereira returns after winning the then-vacant title over Jiří Procházka in November.

Over the last few weeks and months, it had been a whirlwind over who would headline UFC 300. Speculation ran rampant from Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler to Israel Adesanya vs. Dricus du Plessis and even Leon Edwards vs. Khamzat Chimaev.

After the above matchups fell through, UFC President Dana White tabbed Pereira and Hill to headline the historic UFC 300 card. White and the UFC excited UFC 300's main event as a game-changer, and some fans were unimpressed by the promotion's last-minute scramble.

But, Bisping thinks fans should be thankful and look forward to one of the biggest cards in UFC history.

Michael Bisping Reacts To UFC 300 Main Event Announcement

During a recent appearance on TNT Sports, Bisping reacted to the new main event for UFC 300.

“Fantastic news, brilliant fight,” Bisping said. “I want to start by saying thank God because can we stop going on about it now? That’s all anyone has been talking about: What will the UFC 300 main event be? I thought this was a strong contender right from the get-go. Of course, (Michael) Chandler vs. Conor (McGregor) would have been great, (Jon) Jones vs. Stipe (Miocic) or (Tom) Aspinall would have been phenomenal, but we knew that wasn’t happening...

“Jamahal Hill is the rightful No. 1 contender. He relinquished the belt. Alex Pereira, come on. A two-weight division champion, beaten former champions, the rise through the ranks in the UFC is phenomenal, and then you combine it, the cherry on top of this ridiculous fight card. I don’t understand all this chatter online. People are just criticizing for the sake of it. Almost every single fight could be a main event. It’s a phenomenal event.”

UFC 300 also features the UFC debut of Kayla Harrison, a BMF title clash between Justin Gaethje and Max Holloway, along an all-Chinese strawweight title fight between Zhang Weili and Yan Xiaonan.

After UFC 300's main event was finally announced, anticipation is starting to ramp up, and Bisping thinks the card will deliver and surpass some fan expectations.
