Michael Bisping Points Out One Aspect Of Refereeing From Herb Dean That Could Have Been Done Better In Roman Dolidze vs. Nassourdine Imavov Fight: 'For The Fans' Sake...'

Former UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping is tired of seeing fighters clinch up against the fence.

Over the weekend, Nassourdine Imavov survived Roman Dolidze to earn a majority-decision victory. The exhausting bout saw Dolidze have Imavov up against the fence on multiple occasions, but he failed to utilize the necessary takedown offense to get Imavov to the ground from there.

While referee Herb Dean did make an effort to get the pair more back into the center of the Octagon, it was largely to no avail.

"I Wanted To See Them Broken Up Far, Far Sooner" - Michael Bisping On Imavov vs. Dolidze

During a recent video uploaded to his YouTube channel, "The Count" discussed his frustrations with the amount of fence time in Imavov vs. Dolidze. While he did acknowledge Dean's efforts to break the pair up, it was largely a case of too little too late.

The Mancunian also highlighted that locking up against the fence for long periods of time is not entertaining for fans.

"Fights need to be broken up against the fence a lot more quickly, in my humble opinion, okay," Bisping said. "There was a lot of time in that fight that Dolidze was pressuring him up against the fence, and just kind of holding him there. Herb Dean kept saying, 'Hey, come on, let's go, let's go, let's go.' I wanted to see them broken up far, far sooner. I don't make the rules, but my humble opinion, it needs to be moved along, for the fans' sake."

Bisping went on to further posit that when fighters who aren't that great at wrestling are up against the fence jockeying for under-hooks, it needs to be broken up by the referee.

"A lot of the time you'll see two girls up against the fence," Bisping said. "Neither one of them are the strongest wrestlers, they're just battling for under-hooks, break that up, okay?"
