Mike Perry will face former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez at BKFC 56 on December 2. Perry announced the fight on X on October 19.

Both men have had a clean run in BKFC, with Perry going undefeated in three bouts, and Alvarez making a successful debut back in April. "Platinum's" last victory was a high-profile finish over former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold, whilst Alvarez scored a split decision over Chad Mendes.

The two dogged fighters have already spoken to one another on 'The MMA Hour':

"I think you're a little crazy for this to be your matchup... I'm definitely steps above [Chad Mendes]," Perry remarked.

"...If you knock my teeth out, I'm gonna spit them back at you, I'm not Luke Rockhold, I don't need them," Alvarez warned Perry.

Perry replied, "I promise the same thing, If you [couldn't] get rid of Chad, you ain't getting rid of me - it's going to be a tough night for you Eddie."

Both Perry and Alvarez are UFC alumni, but only Alvarez was a champion in the promotion. Despite only being one weight class apart, they only shared one opponent - both losing to Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone. Perry's UFC record concluded with seven wins and eight losses. Alvarez left with four wins, three losses and one No-Contest.

It could be argued that Perry's stock rose after he left the UFC. Since exploring free agency, "Platinum" has become the star of BKFC, going as far as saying going back to the UFC would be a "pay cut":

"I have to say they put about $8 million on contract," Perry revealed to MMA Fighting "...The pay cut would have been too massive [to rejoin the UFC]," Perry explained.
