Draymond Green fires back at 'idiot' Dillon Brooks as feud grows

Last week, Dillon Brooks of the Memphis Grizzlies told ESPN he didn't like Draymond Green. On Wednesday, Green fired back.

On his podcast, "The Draymond Green Show," Green went sentence-by-sentence on Brooks' statement, answering his points, calling Brooks an "idiot" and strongly implying that Brooks is disliked by his teammates on the Grizzlies.

Here's what Brooks told ESPN in a profile published last week:

"I don't like Draymond at all. I just don't like Golden State. I don't like anything to do with them. Draymond talks a lot. Gets away with a lot, too. His game is cool — with Golden State — but if you put him anywhere else, you're not going to know who Draymond is. He plays with heart, plays hard, knows the ins and outs of their defense. I guess that's why they like him over there."

Green responded to each part of the statement. He said he understood why Brooks said he didn't like the Warriors. "I quite frankly wouldn’t like a team that beats me all the time either.”

Green agreed that he talked a lot but that Brooks did too. While Brooks simply talks, Draymond listed his accomplishments — four rings, Defensive Player of the Year, two Olympic gold medals, four All-Star teams — as justification for his talking. The implication, of course, was that Brooks had done none of those things.

The most devastating part of his reply may have had some truth to it. Namely, that Brooks was holding back his more talented teammates from winning.

"If you ever wonder why the Memphis Grizzlies is not ready to compete for a championship," Green said. "Look no further than this idiot right here. They’re actually depending on this guy to help them win a championship."

Green referred to Brooks calling the Grizzlies a "dynasty," and said, "The dynasty starts after you," Green said. "Not with you."

Brooks will get a chance to respond on the court when the Warriors visit the Grizzlies Thursday night. No matter what happens on the court, we're fairly sure we'll hear a lot from Green and Brooks afterward.
