Ime Udoka Among Those Mentioned Among Pistons Coaching Candidates
Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Former Celtics coach Ime Udoka may be a candidate for the Pistons’ vacancy, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Coach Dwane Casey announced he will be moving into Detroit’s front office, opening the door for a new coach. Udoka, of course, was suspended by the Celtics before the season and then released after an inappropriate relationship with a female staff member.

He is now a coaching free agent and is considered one of the hottest names on the market after leading the Celtics to the Finals last season. That marked Udoka’s first season as a head coach.

Along with Udoka, Bucks assistant Charles Lee, Heat assistant Chris Quinn and Raptors assistant Adrian Griffin may be on the Pistons’ radar, per Wojnarowski.

All three have been in the running for several head-coaching jobs over the past few summers, and Griffin could be in the running with the Raptors should they decide to move on from coach Nick Nurse.

Udoka, Griffin and Quinn all played in the NBA.

The Pistons finished 17-65 this season and went to the playoffs just once in Casey’s five years.
