Insider makes surprising pitch for Lakers' 'best bet' at trade deadline

The Los Angeles Lakers are the team fans will likely hear about the most over the coming week ahead of the Feb. 8 trade deadline. That's a natural result of the team being linked to numerous players, their 24-25 record, and the glaring signs that some form of change is likely needed.

But how drastic will that change actually be? When discussing the trade outlook for the Lakers heading into the deadline, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski offered some interesting insights, which included stating that the organization, players, and fans should "temper their expectations." He also had a surprising pitch for what he believes is the best move for the Lakers.

"The Lakers have been active, but they're a team like many others who are trying to improve without a lot of difference makers really available in the marketplace..." Wojnarowski said on SportsCenter.

"I think Laker fans, and players, and the organization probably have to temper their expectations on this trade deadline ... Their best bet might be to wait."

It's a pitch that'll be a hard sell to virtually any Lakers fan at this point.

The team has been linked to Zach LaVine, Dejounte Murray, Bruce Brown, multiple Brooklyn Nets players, and others. But the driving point behind the insider's belief the Lakers should wait is that once the 2024 NBA Draft comes around, the team can trade up to three first-round picks whereas they can only deal one currently.
