LA Clippers Sign A New Player
USA TODAY Sports

The LA Clippers have announced that they've signed 6-foot-5 guard Nate Darling.

Darling previously played for the Ontario Clippers and played for the Charlotte Hornets before that during the 2020-2021 NBA season. He's the first and only Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens player in NBA history. Darling was also first-team All-CAA in 2020.

Nate Darling was undrafted in the 2020 NBA draft and then signed a two-way deal with the Charlotte Hornets. In his final year of college, Darling averaged 21.0 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.8 assists on 45/40/85 shooting. In seven games with the Charlotte Hornets, he averaged 1.3 points in 3.7 minutes a game. While Darling hasn't had much success in the NBA, it seems pretty clear based on his college history that he's capable of being an offensive threat.

Since 2021, Darling has had a history with the Clippers and their G-League Ontario affiliate. On October 16, 2021, Darling was signed by the Clippers but then waived shortly after. He was then selected by the Ontario Clippers fifth overall in the 2021 NBA G League draft. Since then, he's signed a two-way contract with the Clippers, been waived, and then reacquired by the Ontario Clippers. Now, he's re-signed with the LA Clippers yet again.

In all likelihood, Nate Darling won't play many minutes for the LA Clippers. However, if he provides a big enough showcase during the NBA preseason, there's a chance for something more with the LA Clippers down the line.
