LA Clippers Waive Former Celtics Player

The LA Clippers announced on Monday that the team had waived former Boston Celtics guard Brodric Thomas. Recently signed to a training camp deal, Thomas was with the team in Hawaii, but has now been cut to make room for Nate Darling. A familiar face in the Clippers organization, Darling is being bought back, and will likely play this season with the Agua Caliente Clippers where he has spent a lot of time.

Before signing with the Clippers and ultimately being waived, Thomas last played in the NBA with Boston in the 2021-22 season. Before that, the 6'5" guard had brief stints with the Houston Rockets and Cleveland Cavaliers. While things didn't work out with the Clippers, Thomas got some solid experience while in camp, and will look to land somewhere else if he doesn't stick around LA's organization with their G-League affiliate.

This is the reality for most training camp signees, because while some players are able to make rosters out of camp, the Clippers do not currently have any available two-way or standard roster spots. Unless a trade is made before the season, which remains possible, this is the 15-man roster the Clippers will enter opening night with. That said, things can change, which is why it's important for young players in camp to make a positive impression even if they don't make the team right away.
