Suns star Chris Paul expected to miss at least six weeks with fractured thumb

The Phoenix Suns have the best record in the NBA at the All-Star break, but may be without star point guard Chris Paul for the rest of the regular season. According to Allie LaForce of TNT, Paul suffered a right thumb avulsion fracture and will be re-evaluated by Phoenix in six to eight weeks.

With about seven weeks left before the playoffs begin in April, that puts the Suns in jeopardy of starting the postseason without Paul.

Paul, 36, earned his 12th career All-Star nod this season and leads the NBA in both assists and steals. He's averaging 14.9 points, 10.7 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game. Paul has recorded two triple-doubles this season and helped lead Phoenix to the 2021 NBA Finals.

Phoenix has lost just one of its last 19 games and has a 6.5-game lead over the Golden State Warriors for first place in the Western Conference.
