Bears to promote RB Lamar Miller for 'Monday Night Football' game

The Chicago Bears will be without top running back David Montgomery on Monday night against the Minnesota Vikings after he suffered a concussion last weekend. However, the team has promoted a running back to take his open roster spot.

Bears head coach Matt Nagy revealed earlier in the week that promoting Lamar Miller to the active roster was an option. Now the decision has reportedly been made. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Bears will call up Miller for Monday's matchup against their NFC North rivals.

Monday's game will be Miller's first regular-season appearance since the end of the 2018 season. The 29-year-old tore his ACL in a 2019 preseason game, and he failed to make the New England Patriots roster this year after signing with the team in August.

Miller, a former Pro Bowler, had 210 carries for the Houston Texans in 2018 for 973 yards and five touchdowns. He added 25 receptions for 163 yards and one touchdown that same season.
