Buccaneers WR/KR Jaydon Mickens arrested on gun charge

Wide receiver and kick returner Jaydon Mickens won a Super Bowl ring as a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last month but has since found himself in some legal trouble.

Jon Ledyard of PewterReport.com wrote that Mickens was arrested in his hometown of Los Angeles last Friday (March 5) after police officers found a concealed firearm during a traffic stop. As a result, the 26-year-old faces a felony charge.

Per TMZ Sports, Mickens was pulled over because officers believed his window tint was too dark. He posted bail of $35,000 and is next due in court on July 8.

The Buccaneers released a brief statement in response to the story:

"We are aware of the issue regarding Jaydon that occurred in Los Angeles last week. He reached out to let us know about the situation soon after it happened and we have been in contact with the league office to ensure they were aware. We will continue to monitor the situation but will have no further comment at this time."

Mickens caught seven of 10 passes thrown his way for 58 yards last season. Per ESPN stats, he led Tampa Bay with 340 kick-return yards and 99 punt-return yards.

He's set to earn a base salary of $920,000 next season, the final year on his current contract.
