Canton-bound Revis Roasts Old Foe on Twitter

Darrelle Revis roasted Asante Samuel more emphatically than any NFL receiver ever did.

The New York Jets' Canton-bound cornerback stepped into a Twitter exchange that the 42-year-old Samuel kick-started when he quote tweeted a list of current cornerback rankings.

With Jets' All-Pro Sauce Gardner listed at No. 2 overall amongst active players at the position, Samuel, who played cornerback for 11 seasons in the NFL before retiring in 2013, publicly declared that the undeservedly high ranking was a product of the New York media's influence and not Gardner's performance.

When another tweeter brought Revis's name into the thread, Samuel subsequently took a shot at the soon-to-be Gold Jacket-donning Jets' legend.

"It’s the NY media what did Revis do so special. I’ll wait… It’s documented want great cornerbacks did in the stats," said Samuel in the replies to his initial quote tweet.

Naturally, Revis took exception to Samuel's nonsensical take and fired off a response that shut down the hater as if he were an opposing WR1.

First, Revis shared a story about Samuel's susceptibility to a receiver's double move and the Jets lack of respect for his ability during the Rex Ryan era.

Then, he delivered the haymaker.

"try again [expletive]. . I’m a 1st ballot Hall of Famer," said Revis.

Even after earning a clear victory, Revis wasn't done. He proceeded to defend Gardner and the young rising stars of present day.

"@pick_six22 quit being a hater when it comes to young rising stars @ the cornerback position. be mad @ the voters who never considered you shutdown," said Revis, who was billed as "Revis Island" for his ability to thrive in one-on-one battles.
