Carolina Panthers Bust Gets New Lease on Professional Career with the UFL
Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

The moment the Carolina Panthers selected Bryce Young with the first overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft, Matt Corral knew that his time with the organization was numbered.

The Ole Miss standout saw his NFL career crash and burn as he failed to make an impact in the pros. However, he gets a second chance to resurrect his professional career as he prepares to play springtime football.

Former Carolina Panthers QB Matt Corral to play in the UFL

The Spun’s Daniel Bates reported the future plans for the QB who went in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft:

Just two years removed from being a third-round draft choice of the Carolina Panthers, quarterback Matt Corral is reportedly seeking opportunity with the newly-formed UFL.

Per James Larsen of Pro Football Newsroom, the Birmingham Stallions signed the former Ole Miss star after NFL stints with the Pats and Panthers.

Corral did not get the chance to show off what he could do in the NFL. During his rookie season, he had to sit back and watch Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold compete for the team’s starting QB spot. Even former XFL standout PJ Walker got more snaps than him.

After a failed run with the Panthers, he got a second shot with the New England Patriots. However, he found himself without a team after Bill Belichick decided to tough out his final season with Mac Jones crumbling miserably under center.

He was quickly running out of options for his NFL career when the Birmingham Stallions came knocking to give him the chance he badly needed. With the UFL team, he hopes to put on a solid enough performance to warrant a spot to compete for any of the league’s backup QB spots.

Corral was a solid QB who played all four years of his college eligibility at Ole Miss. He passed for 8287 passing yards, 57 touchdowns, and 159.2 passer rating in his college career, proving that he can throw the football.

What Corral needs is an opportunity to show what he can do, and the UFL is the perfect platform for him to show his stuff to NFL teams.
