Chargers Have Something to Prove Against Lions, Says Star Defensive Lineman
USA TODAY Sports

Stop me if you've heard this before; this week is a must-win for the Bolts.

I know, it seems like we say that every week, but it doesn't mean it's not true. The Bolts are coming off a big win against the New York Jets on the road, and it won't get any easier as they will host the NFC North-leading Detroit Lions at home.

The Chargers have a chance to get over .500 for the first time this season, and we'll see if they'll be ready for the challenge ahead. A win could move them into the playoff picture, and a loss will once again send them down the standings.

The Lions' offense is no joke, rankings second in total offense, averaging 390 yards per game. The Chargers know what is at stake and the obstacle ahead of them, including their defensive star rookie, Tuli Tuipulotu.

Tuipulotu spoke to the media prior to Week 10 and brought up the challenge ahead and what it means to him and his team.

"It's going to be a big opportunity for us," linebacker Tuli Tuipulotu said. "We had two great games defensively, and I think this is a great challenge for us to go out there and prove that it's not a fluke."

The 21-year-old has been vital to the Chargers' defensive performance in the last two outings. This matchup, however, will present their own set of challenges; not only are the Lions second in total offense, but they average 259.3 passing yards per game, sixth in the league, while the Bolts give up 286 passing yards, dead last in the league.

LA will have a ton of work to do, but if they can replicate their last two performances on this high-powered offense, the Bolts could do some damage and show they are among the best teams in the National Football League.

Buckle up for a tight one, Bolt fans. We'll be in for a doozy and find out how for real this defense truly is.
