Colts met with player who models his game after Bob Sanders
USA TODAY Sports

With the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine off and running, NFL teams are meeting with members of the 2024 NFL Draft class.

The Indianapolis Colts had an informal meeting with Wake Forest safety Malik Mustapha.

Mustapha spent three seasons at Wake Forest from 2021-2023, appearing in 35 total games.

  • 2021: 13 games, 37 total tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 2 interceptions, 2 pass deflections, 1 forced fumble
  • 2022: 10 games, 58 total tackles, 8.0 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, 3 pass deflections, 2 forced fumbles
  • 2023: 12 games, 80 total tackles, 0.5 sacks, 1 interception, 2 pass deflections

Mustapha could be a player to watch for the Colts if they let Julian Blackmon walk this offseason in free agency. Mustapha projects best as a strong safety or used mainly in the box. The player he models his game after will be eye-opening for Colts fans, specifically as he spoke about legend Bob Sanders.

In the tweet above, you can listen to his thoughts on Sanders, but he shared that Sanders was a "hard-hitting safety" who played with his "hair on fire." He also mentioned that he attempts to be "the enforcer on the field" to model his game after Sanders during his time with the Colts.
