Eagles GM puts former first-round pick Jalen Reagor on notice

Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman made clear Wednesday that the 2022 season will essentially be do-or-die for one former first-round draft pick.

Roseman made clear that wide receiver Jalen Reagor needed to impress in 2022, hinting that his future with the organization is at stake.

“We talked about it at the end of the season; we need Jalen to take another step,” Roseman said, via Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “We need Jalen to do some of the things we drafted him to do. He knows that. There’s no secret about that. We’ve told him the same things.”

That’s a pretty rough public indictment of Reagor, and it’s fairly rare to see a player called out so bluntly by his bosses. Roseman is right, though. In two seasons, the 21st overall pick in 2020 has managed just 695 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Of course, Roseman would probably be wise to point a finger at himself, too. After all, Justin Jefferson went one pick after Reagor, and even at the time, plenty of people thought the Eagles made a big mistake.
