Former Steelers Linebacker Arthur Moats Is Trusting Mike Tomlin And Delivers Examples Of Why Team Should Keep Him
Philip G. Pavely-USA TODAY Sports

The Pittsburgh Steelers took a beating on Sunday against the now 3-10 Arizona Cardinals. Many excuses are being thrown out as to why they lost this game, like the fact that quarterback Kenny Pickett got injured, and that usually once a season, every team has a fluke game. Whatever the case is, this loss should be unacceptable if the Steelers want to live up to the standards that they have placed on themselves for years. Despite this loss, the team will have to collect themselves as they have a quick turnaround since they have to play the New England Patriots this Thursday.

The Bigger Problem For The Steelers Seems To Be With Mike Tomlin

Many believed that the team's former Offensive Coordinator, Matt Canada was the problem, but that may not have been the whole truth. Yes, Canada had his issues, but he now seems just to be a scapegoat for the team so they have someone to blame for their shortcomings. The bigger problem for the Steelers seems to be with Mike Tomlin. He may have been able to keep a winning record for the duration of his career and was able to win a Super Bowl, but his time with the organization should be coming to an end.

When watching the last two games that the Steelers have played without Canada, there are still some of his tendencies that can be shown. This is where the blame should fall on Tomlin. To fire your offensive coordinator and then not be able to produce anything but a late meaningless touchdown two weeks later should put the higher-ups at fault. This is why almost all of Steelers' media is realizing that it should be time that the team take a good long look in the mirror and think about moving on from Tomlin.

Although everyone will be asking for Tomlin to get fired if the Steelers have another mediocre ending to their season like they have had for the past 10 years, it is highly unlikely that any changes will occur. The organization would use the fact that Pickett was injured for a couple of games to counteract the fact that sometimes coaching can become stale and that you should move on from even the best coaches in the league.

While many fans want to see Tomlin gone, his current and former players are always the first to jump in and stand up for his coaching. One of his former players who just recently came to his defense was linebacker Arthur Moats. On his podcast The Arthur Moats Experience with Deke, he would go on to list all of the reasons why you shouldn't fire him.

"Why would you say it is Tomlin's turn? Have we been one win, two wins throughout that process? Or what has our win total been. What has are relevancy been going into the last week of every season, have we been out of it?"

Moats would then try to back up his argument by stating what Tomlin has been able to do with the teams that he has been given. He commented that he believes what the Steelers have done in the last four years through quarterback changes and coordinator changes should give all the more reason to keep him rather than to get rid of him.

"When you bring up all that transition and all that adversity, you would think that this team should be picking in the top five every single year and should not have more than four wins."

Although Moats will stand firm on his point, as much of the former Steelers players will always do when it comes to Tomlin as head coach, the Steelers should at least look at options this offseason and see what is available. The Philadelphia Eagles did this with Andy Reid in 2012 and just a few years later, the Eagles would win the Super Bowl, which would get brought up on Moats' podcast.

So, what do you think Steeler Nation? Is it time for the Steelers to move on from Tomlin this offseason?
