Giants Insider Reveals A Likely Kayvon Thibodeaux Timetable
Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

New York Giants fans held their breath when rookie edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux clutched his knee while wincing in pain.

It’s not a sight they want to see on a promising player that could help turn their fortunes around.

After a cut block by the Cincinnati Bengals’ Thaddeus Moss, Thibodeaux laid on the field for a while.

Luckily, he was able to get up to his own power, signifying that he is feeling okay.

He was able to walk up on his own after the game and was seen saying, “I’m good, we’re good.”

But even if the former Oregon standout seems to be doing well, the Giants wouldn’t risk the chance of him getting a serious injury.

After all, it’s enough for the Giants to throw caution at him after getting a sprained MCL.

In that case, ESPN’s Jordan Raanan a possible estimate for Thibodeaux’s return.

Raanan tweeted, “The Giants opener is in 20 days in Tennessee. So Week 1 would certainly be cutting it close with Kayvon Thibodeaux given a 3-4 week timetable for a sprained MCL.”

Still In Line For The Rookie Sack Record

If everything goes well, Thibodeaux might be able to suit up for the Giants in their season opener against the Tennessee Titans.

Still, they will not rush his return and monitor his situation before giving him the green light to play.

But if he ends up playing the entire regular season, he could be in a position to break the franchise record for most sacks in a season by a rookie.

His teammate, Azeez Ojulari, holds the mark at 8.5 which he established last season.

Thibodeaux would welcome any playing time he can have to set a new record.
